AdvizorPro's Q2 2026 RIA ETF Trends Report was featured in September 2026 by ETF Express, Wealth Solutions Report, Financial Advisor IQ and SummaMoney. The report covered 5,398 RIAs present in both quarters. For earlier editions, see AdvizorPro's Q1 2026 RIA ETF Holdings Report.
RIAs Added More ETFs in Q2
Wealth Solutions Report reported that the average number of ETFs per firm rose from 88.4 to 92.9, with 63.4% of firms increasing their ETF count and 18.2% reducing it, for a net gain of 24,744 ETF positions. ETF Express added that advisers added 66,233 ETF positions and dropped 41,489, and that over 90% of RIA holdings carried over from Q1 to Q2.
Technology and Semiconductor Funds Gained
According to Wealth Solutions Report, technology had the largest thematic gain, adding 230 net RIA holders, with semiconductor and AI strategies contributing. Commodity-focused ETFs lost 103 net RIA holders and digital-asset products lost 86. Financial Advisor IQ described the shift as RIAs moving from real assets toward technology and semiconductors, and SummaMoney reported that advisors changed which sectors they favored, from funds focused on real assets and defense toward technology.
Fewer New ETFs Entered RIA Portfolios
ETF Express reported that new ETFs entering RIA portfolios for the first time fell to 41 in Q2 from 140 in Q1, with leveraged equity the largest category among newcomers. Grant Engelbart of Carson Wealth was quoted saying new entrants face hurdles, including asset thresholds at some firms, many esoteric launches, and active ETFs needing more due diligence time.
Issuer Growth
Wealth Solutions Report noted that all of the 10 largest issuers gained RIA holders in Q2. Invesco led with 95, followed by Schwab (85), First Trust (79), VanEck (70) and Dimensional (64). Among smaller issuers, ETF Express cited the fastest percentage growth in RIA firm counts at EntrepreneurShares (90 to 194 firms, up 115.6%), Baron Capital (up 83.3%), ProcureAM (up 72.4%) and Tema (up 52.9%).
