Women Advisors by Channel

InvestmentNews reported AdvizorPro research showing that female representation varies by channel: approximately 31% at broker-dealers, 30.6% at wirehouses, approximately 25% among hybrid advisors, and roughly 18% to 20% at RIAs, the lowest of the channels. The Wealth Context

InvestmentNews cited McKinsey & Company projections that female-controlled wealth will reach $34 trillion by 2030, up from $7.3 trillion a decade ago, and that women's share of U.S. investable assets will rise to roughly 38 percent. The article noted that the advisor workforce serving them has not kept pace.

Women Starting Their Own RIAs

A second InvestmentNews article previewed the Women Advisor Summit, scheduled for November 5 in New York under the theme "The Long Game." It featured Cathy Curtis, who founded Curtis Financial Planning in Oakland, California in 2001 and encourages women not to be afraid to start their own RIAs. Curtis said marketing to women clients was a new approach when she started, and that it "really paid off."
